Education Department to Improve School Cybersecurity

A council was established and digital infrastructure was organized.

The Department of Education announced two steps to increase cybersecurity within K-12 school facilities. First, they established a Government Coordinating Council to help schools maintain consistent efforts to maintain cybersecurity. Second, they released three briefs about digital infrastructure from which schools can glean further information, all of which were co-authored by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

“Just as we expect everyone in a school system to plan and prepare for physical risks, we must now also ensure everyone helps plan and prepare for digital risks in our schools and classrooms,” said Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. “The Department of Education has listened to the field about the importance of K-12 cybersecurity, and today we are coming together to recognize this and indicate our next steps.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Cardona to seek God’s direction as he leads the Education Department.
  • For department officials as they facilitate improved cybersecurity in K-12 schools.
